From Athlete to Media Brand: Building The Gley Way
Client: Gleyber Torres — The Gley Way · Category: Athlete · Personal Brand · Series
We turned an athlete's personality into an owned, episodic content platform.
For elite athletes, the offseason is more than time away from competition—it's an opportunity to deepen fan relationships, strengthen commercial value, and build a personal brand that extends beyond the game.
Gleyber Torres' team partnered with Second Nature to create an original content platform that would give fans unprecedented access to one of baseball's biggest stars while establishing an owned media channel capable of growing year after year. The result was The Gley Way—an episodic YouTube series documenting Gleyber's life on and off the field while fueling a larger social content ecosystem across multiple platforms.
Rather than creating content around baseball, we created a media brand around the athlete.
The challenge
Professional athletes often experience their highest visibility during the season, but the strongest personal brands continue growing long after the final game. Gleyber needed more than highlight clips and promotional posts.
He needed a platform that allowed fans to experience his personality, work ethic, family life, offseason training, and daily routines in a way traditional sports coverage never could.
The objective wasn't simply to produce videos.
It was to create a destination fans wanted to follow throughout the year.
Our approach
We developed The Gley Way as an episodic storytelling franchise rather than a traditional YouTube channel.
Each episode was designed to reveal a different side of Gleyber's journey, blending documentary-style filmmaking with authentic behind-the-scenes access. Every production day generated both long-form episodes and a continuous stream of short-form content that extended the series across Instagram, YouTube, and other social platforms.
By thinking like a media company instead of a production company, we built an ecosystem where every episode strengthened the larger brand while every social clip drove audiences back to the full story.
The strategy transformed content into a flywheel rather than a collection of isolated posts.

More importantly, the project demonstrated that authentic storytelling can transform an athlete's audience from passive viewers into an engaged community invested in the journey behind the uniform.
Athletes become brands when they own the story.
The takeaway
The most valuable audience an athlete owns isn't built by the league. It's built through direct relationships.
When athletes consistently tell their own stories, they gain more than views—they create long-term commercial value, strengthen sponsor relationships, and establish platforms they control throughout every stage of their career.
At Second Nature, we don't just produce content.
We build media properties around people.
